Blog the 5th

This week it’s all about the nails. Over the past few months nails have become a big part of the fashion world. Nails can say a lot about a person’s fashion sense whether it be plain, colourful, wild or sparkly your nails are a reflection of you. Normally, it is considered a must to have your nails the same colour as the outfit you are wearing but now, with the introduction of Minx Nails, this is not the case. The more your nails clash with your outfit the better. It is no longer about matching your nails to your outfit; Minx nails have given your hands a style of their own.
Minx nails are hot from sunny California and were inspired to give the sun, sea and surf board lovers a hard wearing nail coverage that will last. When looking for a definition of Minx Nails their website offered me the following and I just couldn’t resist but to share it...
“In our definition, a Minx is a sexy, confident, naughty but fun individual who lives every day like it is a big, ripe juicy apple ready to be bitten. We've channelled this cool factor into Minx, a new and glamorous way that lets women (and men!) extend fashion to their very fingertips.” (Taken from www.minxnails.com)
I couldn’t have put it better myself!
However, Minx Nails may be a little too pricey for some of us so I set myself a little mission to find myself an alternative. My findings were brilliant, for just £3 a go you can get the Minx look with a set of 18 copy cat nail foils from Primark. I have to admit I am a terrible nail biting criminal, something that I am trying my best to stop, but I have to admit even on my little nails these foils produced some brilliant results. They are very simple to do, peel off the foil, stick it down to your nail, then cut and shape to cover your nails. So much simpler than painting, even using my left hand to pop the stickers onto my right hand was a doddle, something that can’t be said when using nail varnish. The only downfall was that at the time when I purchased my foils there were only two designs available, the polka dot design I am wearing below and a metallic gold leopard print design.

Another breakthrough in the nail world is scented nail varnish. Revlon have recently launched a new range of varnish colours, all with their own unique scent including bubble gum, grape and even ocean breeze.

Film of the week – Adjustment Bureau

This film, originally a short story by Philip K Dick, is a mixture of Inception and the Bourne collection. This thriller stars Matt Damon and Emily Blunt who I have to say were a real pleasure to watch. It wasn’t as dark or hard to follow as I had originally expected but this was by no means a downfall. This light-hearted picture offers a mixture of comfortably dark, speculative comedy with hints of love, friendship and fate.

Song of the week – Beach Side
This Kings Of Leon song taken from the album Come Around Sundown and never fails to make me smile on a boring journey to university. It makes me think of the warm weather that, with a bit of luck, is on its way and everything I have to look forward to this summer. It is the ultimate sun shining, BBQ and drinks song, as is the majority of this album. It just adds to my already impossible to contain excitement to go and see them for the 2nd time in June.

Thanks for reading, see you again next week.
